VMSConnect offers a wide range of geographic and toll-free numbers

VMSConnect offers a wide range of geographic and toll-free numbers for both Australia and New Zealand. To minimize provisioning lead times, we keep a large stock of numbers for most geographic locations and areas.

We also provide Australian Freephone (1800), Local Rate (13/1300) numbers, and New Zealand toll-free numbers, which can be routed directly to your network or through our advanced Intelligent Network (IN) platform. Our IN platform includes a variety of features and capabilities to enhance your communication experience: Simple one-to-one translations Advanced one-to-many translations, including time-of-day and hunt schemes Interactive Voice Response (IVR) Area-based routing.

Additional features include:

  • Call recording
  • Pre-connection greetings
  • Whisper functionality
  • Queues
  • Missed call notifications
  • Comprehensive call reports and statistics

Through our global partnerships, VMSConnect also offers International Toll-Free Service (ITFS) numbers sourced from around the world. If you already own numbers and would like to transfer them to us, we make the porting process simple.

VMSConnect can port most types of numbers in Australia and New Zealand onto our network. While porting can sometimes be complex, we provide the tools, knowledge, and support to ensure a smooth and efficient transition.

Call Termination

Call termination is a critical aspect of communication that should not be overlooked.

At VMSConnect, we ensure your traffic reaches its destination reliably and efficiently by leveraging a highly available switching infrastructure and diverse routing options through trusted suppliers, guaranteeing resilience.

Our platform offers extensive customization for your outbound routing needs, including control over Calls Per Second (CPS), supplier selection, and the ability to whitelist specific destinations. You also have the flexibility to present any codec, with optimal transcoding to match the termination network. Additionally, we enable dynamic channel capacity bursts, allowing you to scale for special events or unexpected surges in customer demand—because sometimes, more is needed.

VMSConnect provides a comprehensive termination service, including a full A to Z list for international traffic, powered by tier-1 suppliers. To help mitigate the risk of fraudulent traffic, we offer destination white and blacklisting. Furthermore, we’ve implemented trend-based alerting for all international traffic routed through our switch, ensuring you stay informed and in control.

Virtual Numbers

Virtual Numbers offer the flexibility to retain ownership of numbers that aren’t directly tied to a service on your network.

These numbers can be hosted on the VMSConnect network and can be parked, forwarded to another number (either on or off-net), or routed to a voicemail box.

In addition to geographic numbers from Australia and New Zealand, VMSConnect provides Australian Virtual Mobile Numbers. These numbers can be forwarded to your primary mobile or any global destination. SMS messages sent to your Virtual Mobile Number can be delivered to your network via various protocols, including SMPP, HTTP, or SMTP.

We also support International Virtual Numbers through our partnerships with global providers. Some common use cases for Virtual Numbers include:

  • Retaining a business mobile number through high staff turnover
  • Providing international dial-in numbers for conference calls or services
  • Enabling mobile CLI for outbound calling
  • Keeping your home number without requiring a landline

Virtual numbers can be assigned from our stock or ported into the VMSConnect network for easy integration.

2-way SMS traffic (send/receive)
Multipart, Unicode, Flash SMS & scheduled delivery
Full Delivery Receipt (DLR) support
Custom SMSC and on-the-fly SMS modifications
Message prioritization, retry, filtering & throttling
White-labeled, multi-tier gateway partitioning

Wholesale SMS

VMSConnect provides full access to our SMS Gateway for wholesale customers via web portal, SMPP bind, or REST API. As an optional ‘Gateway as a Service’ model, we offer white-labeled partitions, enabling independent management of connections, services, and commercial arrangements for resellers and end customers, without managing routing or supplier relationships.

A2P Messaging
Our SMS Gateway supports Application-to-Person (A2P) messaging for use cases like account verification, marketing, and reminders. We ensure compliance with ACMA’s anti-spam regulations, including a system-wide curfew for message delivery to avoid breaching regulatory requirements.

Inbound SMS
Our SMS Gateway can deliver inbound SMS to hosted mobile numbers. Routing is customizable via SMPP, REST API, or email. Control over the inbound routing and termination mechanisms is available through the SMS Gateway portal.

Two-Way SMS
Two-way SMS enables interaction with customers for appointment confirmations, real-time service updates, and data retrieval via keywords. The gateway supports automated responses and allows campaigns for customers to opt-in, with configurable opt-out mechanisms for compliance with anti-spam laws.

Bulk SMS
Our SMPP implementation supports bulk SMS origination and termination, offering multiple binds per account for higher throughput. With up to 10k TPS and volume discounts, VMSConnect is ideal for bulk SMS termination. Bulk SMS can be sent via the portal or REST API.

HTTP API
For easy integration, our simple REST API provides access to send/receive messages, check credit balances, and view delivery statuses. It is ideal for both bulk and single message dispatch. Developers can easily integrate with their preferred programming language. Contact us for account setup and API documentation.

MICROSOFT TEAMS VOICE CALLING

Microsoft Teams has integrated a "Phone System" feature that allows businesses to use hosted PBX and call control within the Teams environment

Microsoft Teams Direct Routing

Microsoft Teams has integrated a "Phone System" feature that allows businesses to use hosted PBX and call control within the Teams environment, available with the right licensing. This functionality enables organizations to replace legacy PBX systems with advanced voice features, all managed within Office 365.

To enable external calling capabilities for Teams, there are two options:

Microsoft Calling Plans – Uses the incumbent Telco for call routing.
Direct Routing – Connects Teams to the Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) via an independent telephony carrier. This solution provides greater flexibility, control, and commercial benefits. Microsoft certifies select SBC providers to ensure reliable telephony solutions for cloud calling.

Note: E1 and E3 licensed users need an add-on Phone System license, whereas the Phone System license is included in the E5 plan.
